Case Study 1 - Guidance on UKCA Marking - Bespoke Machinery Manufacturer - Glasgow
Glasgow Technical Engineering supported a small machinery manufacturer who were looking for support on CE marking and UKCA marking for their new product.
Scope of project included:
Advising on applicable EU and UK directives and the Essential Health and Safety Requirements (EHSRs) within each
Supporting appointment of Authorised Representatives within the EU and UK
Assessment of machinery safety including guarding, signage and control measures
Creation of an assessment format which the customer can now use to self assess their other products for conformity without further support
On going support on technical queries for machinery safety
Outcome
Product was placed on the market, was accepted by local technical authority and is now in service.

Case Study 2 - Developing a Machinery Risk Assessment - Fabricator - Lanarkshire
Glasgow Technical Engineering were asked to support a fabricator who were making their first venture into machinery manufacturing and needed some technical support on the requirements for machinery safety and writing a machinery based risk assessment.
Our scope included:
Assesment of applicable directives and legislation
Checking of conformance to ESHRs
Supplying information on machinery guarding requirements
Checking of applicable A,B and C type standards
Writing a machinery risk assessment to EN12100
Outcome
The machine is now being demonstrated and tested at various end users site's before a decision is made on whether to manufacture more.

Case Study 3 - Process Design - Food Additive Manfacturer - Derby
Glasgow Technical Engineering were asked to provide some basic process design and guidance for pilot trials for a longstanding food additive manufacturer.
Scope of project included:
Assessment of basic heat and material balances
Supporting client procurement and technical specification for new equipment
Creation of basic process flow and P&IDs
Outcome
New equipment was used and placed into service for sucessful product trials. Customer is now seeking financial approval for scale up of the process trialed.
